This will run your laptop although a bit slow however, you can access the hd and save it to a thumbdrive or if you have a lan to another computer. While this does not involve physically removing your laptop's hard disk, it might be a bit challenging preparing the bootable CD with an OS. (2) another method is to boot and run your OS from your cd. ![]() There are many sites that explains how to do this. (1) remove your Travelstar 5K100 from the laptop and using a 44 to 40 pin adaptor, connect it to the working pc which should recognize it as another hd and therefore you can copy your files to that pc. ![]() ![]() If however there are a good number of critical/important files you would want to save/copy, there are two (2) ways of going about saving/copying those files but both involve access to a working computer. Hi, if this is a fairly new installed XP you're probably better off: repartitioning, reformat and reinstall WinXP but this will delete all contents of the hard drive.
